Offshore drilling

We own and operate independent leg cantilever jack-up drilling rigs (MODU) in the Caspian Sea (Astra, Saturn, Neptune and Mercury).

EDC provides offshore drilling services through our BKE Shelf subsidiary. We offer our services to Russian and international oil and gas companies in the Russian, Kazakh and Turkmen sectors of the Caspian Sea.

Our jack-up fleet is rated to operate in water depths from 5 to 107 metres (16 to 350 feet) and is capable of drilling to 7,925 metres (26,000 feet). EDC's third and fourth offshore jackup drilling units for the Caspian Sea are newbuilds constructed by Lamprell. The first of these (Neptune) started drilling in the Turkmenistan waters in Q1 2014 and the second newbuild (Mercury) started in Turkmenistan in Q2-2016. MODU Neptune returned from Turkmenistan in 2016 and has been operating in Russia from mid-2016 to date. MODU Mercury returned from Turkmenistan in 2020 and has been operating in Russia from mid-2020 to early 2021.

We also provide drilling services on LUKOIL's ice-resistant drilling and production platform in the Yuri Korchagin field.

Offshore drilling services are contracted primarily on a day-rate basis.
